Research Interest
The major research interests of the lab are related to host defense and innate immune responses in the mucosal tissues such as lung, skin, and gut. We are trying to understand how innate immune circuits detect and respond to allergen/microbe challenges in the mucosal tissue and how innate immune circuit contribute to tissue homeostasis or harmful inflammatory responses in the mucosal tissues. We are interested in defining the functions of Innate lymphoid cells(ILCs), which are a group of lymphocytes that lack specific antigen receptors.
We investigate the role of ILCs in animal models of various disease such as asthma, atopic dermatitis, and colitis. We also try to translate the data in human pathology by testing various human samples, and to find the potential role of ILCs in diagnosis, as biomarkers and/or as future treatment targets
Research Themes
1. Induction and regulation of innate immune cells in the mucosal tissue
2. ILCs-immune cell interactions in various disease
3. Epigenetic control of activation or inhibition of ILCs
4. Finding potential biomarker of allergic disease
5. Host-immune cell-microbiome interaction
